Automaton 07

About this piece

Automaton 07 is a friendly machine: rounded ivory ceramic panels, amber eyes and small brass joints that catch the light. A hard-surface study in keeping engineered forms soft and approachable.

Panels are built from primitives with generous bevels, then panel lines are carved rather than modeled — faster to art-direct, cheaper to change. The seam rhythm does all the storytelling.

Process

1. Block proportions from primitives; freeze the silhouette before bevels.
2. Carve panel lines with masks and polish, keeping gaps wide enough to read at distance.
3. Light like a product shot: soft top, blue rim, one warm kicker.
