Two contrasting personalities, one shared scene. A new studio study explores an inquisitive young detective and a rabbit who would prefer a quieter day.
A new working rhythm takes shape around the studio: time for character studies, quiet observation and conversations about the next project.
A monochrome portrait study brings the focus back to proportion, sculpted planes and the way a single light reveals a face.
Lena Marceau is a character artist based in Angoulême. At Zephyrmesh Atelier, expressive shapes become portraits, creatures and small visual stories. The work moves between sculpted studies and painted concepts, with close attention to silhouette and mood.
Books, games and everyday observations often provide the first spark. A raised eyebrow, a worn sleeve or a lopsided smile can suggest more about a character than a long description. I enjoy finding those details and carrying them through the design.
The portrait beside this note reflects that same curiosity: start with an unlikely idea, test its shape, and leave room for a little humour.
Character concepts and posed studies developed with small independent teams, from the first silhouette to a clear presentation.
Character forms and expressive shape studies for playful screen stories, with close reviews between design and production.
Modelling, painted surfaces and practical asset organisation for a compact character-art team.
Digital form studies and carefully separated parts for small sculptural objects.
Early exercises in shape, observation and the habits that keep a shared project organised.
A growing focus on stylised proportions, readable textures and useful feedback during review.
Characters began as marks in notebooks: curious faces, imagined creatures and stories drawn before they were written.
A period of focused drawing and digital-art practice, connecting observation with imaginative character design.
Have a character or visual story in mind? Share a little about the project, its stage and the kind of help you need. The studio notes and portfolio offer a sense of how I approach the work.
