The Sentinel
About this piece
The Sentinel guards nothing in particular and takes the job very seriously. A wrapped-hood bust study in weathered grey, built to practice stone-like surfaces and the kind of face that has watched a thousand travelers pass.
The wrap is sculpted as thick folded bands rather than cloth simulation — stylized work reads better when the folds are designed, not simulated. Subtle asymmetry keeps him ancient instead of merely old.
Process
- Establish the skull first; the wrap must sit on bone, not float above it.
- Design six hero folds and repeat them with variation around the hood.
- Finish with cavity-heavy material response and a cool key light.
