A vintage badge for a board-game workshop: The Games Maker, in brass and mahogany, with enough filigree to feel carved. Commissioned as a logo, delivered as a full key-art kit — badges, seals, box corners and a very smug rulebook fox.
Real badge design is restraint archaeology: period letterforms, honest symmetry, and ornament that frames instead of shouts. Every curve was drawn, not filtered — filters confess under print magnification.
Process
- Research period badges; steal structure, never artwork.
- Draw the lettering by hand for the not-quite-perfect warmth.
- Test at postage-stamp size; a badge must work as a seal.
