Grey Muse, Clay Study
About this piece
Grey Muse is a weekend anatomy drill with the color turned off: a solemn bust in digital clay, grey on grey, nowhere to hide. A quiet study the studio returns to whenever a new character needs honest proportions.
Working monochrome forces every decision onto the forms — the planes of the brow, the weight of the jaw, the long quiet of the neck. Two evenings of sculpting, one evening of staring, and a morning spent accepting the stare.
Process
- Sculpt at subdivision 3 until the silhouette reads from six feet away.
- Refine planes with polish and buildup passes, keeping every stroke visible and honest.
- Present on a dark backdrop with a single rim light, like marble in a museum.
