A cartoon lion with a magnificent mane and zero interest in being scary. Modeled for a preschool series, where every character must survive a hug test — big soft masses, no points, eyes you could fall into.
The mane is layered cards over a sculpted base: full control of the silhouette with cheap, groomable volume. The muzzle is one squishy form; toddlers can smell fear, and sharp edges.
Process
- Sculpt the appeal base first, then fit the mane cards to it.
- Keep every form convex and huggable; audit with the squint test.
- Style fur in clumps, never strands — preschool rendering budgets demand it.
